KRIS KOSACH: (00:00)
This is Text Prose and RocknRoll B side.

Google Suzi Quatro and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and you'll find two things. One that SUZI, isn't in it (crazy. I know). And two, there are lots of people who are none too happy about it. Hey, it's me, Kris Kosach. When I spoke with Suzi recently about her documentary, Suzi Q, I had to bring up this incredible oversight. And I also got a chance to ask her about her recent work.

MUSIC

Your son, Richard plays with you. He's harped on you about bringing your music to a new generation, and man did you nail it!

SONG: NO CONTROL BY SUZI QUATRO

KRIS KOSACH

That is a great song. I love it.

SUZI QUATRO:

Do you know what? I'm so glad we connected. Okay. And you are, because this is where we're connecting on this song. I'm telling you now, this is what I saw on your face. A lot of people have asked me cause I've written a lot of songs. Have you ever written one that is ‘you’? And that's the song I pick because it's me. I gotta hold on to me. You can't take my soul. I actually go on stage. When I do that. And I recite the lyrics to the audience. I do. I say: You can't take away my soul. You can't break me because I'm in control. You can't take my heart my mind this time. I won't let go. You can't take away my soul. No, no, no, no.

KRIS KOSACH

Can we expect more new music from you.

SUZI QUATRO:

Yes. Uh, in fact, this lockdown, um, we, uh, there, the contract's been taken up for another element and there, my son, he would have been on tour. I would have been on tour. I have a little studio where I built for us to use and we were both here. So we have been writing, I've got 14 songs ready for the next album. I've written an assembled, a lyric book. And I'm working on the script for my movie. So I've made this lockdown work for me.

KRIS KOSACH

I just want to ask one more thing. The rock and roll hall of fame. I'm not the only one who thinks it's just playing wrong that you haven't been inducted yet.

SUZI QUATRO:

I'll say that's wrong. It's a no brainer. Everybody I've talked to says the same thing. Let's hope they fixed it. You know? I mean, how can you not have the first one? It just doesn't make sense.

KRIS KOSACH

The omission of the queen of rock into the hall of fame is a gross oversight, especially when you consider Suzi was the inspiration for others who have already been inducted, but YOU can help. Go to change.org and search for “Induct Suzi Quatro” to sign a petition to show your support. There's a link in the credits wherever you found this podcast as well. And while you're there find a playlist we created of Suzi's music, including the one we sampled: the title track from her last album. No Control. Thanks again to Suzi for allowing us to play a clip for you. For Text, Prose and RocknRoll, I'm Kris Kosach.

SUZI QUATRO:

….Through all that hardship. I found my light and I turned it on that. Believe me, nobody will ever switch it off. Not while I have breath in my body.
